Our in house "Passive House" expert Lasse Haldrup Juul has recently completed the exterior to this completely refurbished "Funkis" style house in Gjovik, Norway. His obsessive attention to detail and aspirations for passive house qualification makes this a truly remarkable alteration.
The project is a complete rehabilitation of a 75-year-old funkis-styled house, built in 1939. Everything from the original house, except the basement walls, load bearing wooden-structure, staircase and chimney has been redeveloped and enhanced. The exterior skin of the house is covered with Kebonizated Southern yellow pine cladding, in a unique profile developed for this project. The interior plan is light, spatial, open and flexible with a minimalistic approach, a "no-compromise-attitude" to details and a high level of quality to the materials, which makes this a house that has close to zero cost added to maintenances during its lifetime.
